I love the Ocean.

I went to the beach with Daniel (Sr.) on Tuesday on my day off. He was out there waiting for me, so I headed out to the beach around 1230. It's about ten minutes from my house on Mustang Island. I get on to the road, and it's kinda wet. I was like ok whatever it did rain yesterday, as I get to the mouth of the beach, I have to drive around a suburban that is stuck. That's weird since generally cars can go out there a ways. I round the corner and HOLY CRAP the waves are coming all the way up to the sand dunes. You literally have to drive in the water to get anywhere. I am not a happy camper about this at all, because the water is over the usual road and I completely had to off road to get to where Sr. was at. Obviously I wasn't going to get stuck in my jeep, but there was a fear in the back of my mind that I wouldn't drive her properly and PEEJ would be shamed because of my lack of driving in the sand skills.

Then Thursday, Sr and I went to the Texas State Aquarium. Here are a couple pictures from that trip courtesy of Sr and I's phones because the only day I don't have a camera we decide to do something fun worth taking pictures of.

Sea turtle. I LOVE SEA TURTLES!!!

An otter, he was way too fast for my camera, but Sr is a good photographer and managed to get this photo.

Stingrays!

Sr petting an Alligator.

Me being very scared of Piranhas.

Petting stingrays.

The only way I could take a picture with the alligator was if I touched the snake. As soon as I walked out the door and saw it, I was like HELL NO! Of course, I was talked into it though because I will NOT be called a wuss.

Did I mention I love sea turtles? This one was so dang cute I wanted to jump in there and take him home to put in my bathtub. Totally too big for my bathtub but that's ok.

The dolphin show.

Jumping dolphins...Daniel's camera phone is SO much better than mine. That guy's head is much clearer in the first picture.

"We only conserve what we love, we only love that which we understand, we only understand what we know, we only know what we are taught." - Baba Dioum

That was the quote that was on the wall of the aquarium. I love the ocean, it is one of my passions. I really want to get involved in some kind of conservation organization to just do whatever I can, even if it's just something like picking trash up off the beach. I ocean is such an exciting beautiful place, there's so many different animals and fish to see in their natural habitat. I almost feel sorry for the ones stuck in the aquariums, but I could sit and watch them swim around for hours. I suppose their purpose is to educate so that others will be conscious of nature and hopefully fall in love with it like I have.
